As a child, I grew up on a farm in Somerset.I lived with three other siblings, two sisters and a brother.I spent many hours enjoying my own company and to a certain extent still do today. My gran was my main inspiration and she taught me to knit and sew and do a bit of crochet.(the granny squares ).She must have had the patience of a saint to teach me and was a very clever woman within the crafting world. She could turn her hand to anything and won first prizes at village shows etc.My gran was my inspiration and my mum did help too.(but I don`t think she had the same kind of patience!)
I used to play with a toy for many hours with my first sewing machine. It was a small machine and it did sort of work, and I was encouraged to use it pretending to make dolls clothes with it etc.Sad to say, I don`t have it and wish I did, as a memento and introduction to crafting today...
Much much many years later I did several city & guilds courses in textiles and then finally went on to do a BA in Fine Arts Practice and gained a BA (Hons) in Oct 2011 at the age of 50.(something I thought I could never do! but did.)
